ABOUT PRODUCTID 37025
This Zsolnay ceramic vase was produced in Hungary in the 1980s, referencing the Secessionist (Art Nouveau) tradition of the renowned manufactory. Crafted from high-quality glazed ceramics colored with metallic oxides, the vase features a bulbous, lobed body and a slender, flaring neck crowned by a delicately ruffled rim. The dominant tone is an opalescent, metallic green with a cool undertone, shimmering subtly depending on the light. Softly blended blue stripes emphasize the lobes, while a fine gold accent along the rim lends a refined finish. The vase’s surface is smooth and glossy, with proportions evoking the organic, flowing lines characteristic of Art Nouveau. The base bears a signature used by Zsolnay in the 1970s-80s. Condition: very good, with no visible signs of wear or damage. This vase tells the story of Hungarian Secessionism, drawing on the legacy of Zsolnay, which since the 19th century has been celebrated for innovative ceramic techniques and bold, nature-inspired forms. It shimmers like the surface of water on a summer morning, its iridescent glaze alive with shifting light. The organic silhouette and fluid transitions between hues evoke the spirit of a fin-de-siècle era, when craftsmanship met artistic experimentation, and details like the gilded rim speak to the luxury and sophistication of the Art Nouveau period. The Zsolnay vase may be displayed on a low side
