ABOUT PRODUCTID 16707
This bulbous ceramic vase by Faiencerie Thulin was produced in Belgium in the early 20th century, closely linked to the Art Nouveau movement. Measuring 14.5 cm in height and made of clay, the vase features pronounced vertical ribbing accented by a striking gradient of colors: a cool, saturated turquoise-green dominates, interspersed with rivulets of darker olive and brown, culminating at the rim in an almost black olive shade. The high-gloss, iridescent glaze enhances the depth of color and gives the ribbed surface a luminous rhythm. The overall silhouette is further defined by a gently rounded, reinforced lip and a softly flared base, reflecting the organic forms typical of Belgian ceramics from this era and the subtle, flowing color transitions inspired by early 20th-century design. The vase has survived in excellent condition, with no damage or traces of restoration. This vessel carries the spirit of the early 1900s, when Art Nouveau infused everyday objects with fluid lines and blurred tones, transforming household ceramics into poetic expressions of movement and light. The material itself narrates a meeting of earth and fire, while the drip glaze captures the sense of water in motion, momentarily held in place. Iridescent highlights evoke the sensitivity to color and light that defined the period, suggesting a painterly approach to functional design. The vase may be displayed on a marble tabletop, a walnut console, or a low shelf alongside neutral textiles. It would work well as a solitary accent in Art Nouveau interiors or within a curated collection of early 20th-century ceramics. Pairing with diffused lighting enhances the organic color transitions, while placing it near glass objects or an art poster allows for a dialogue across materials and eras.
