The 'Bałwanek' vase, designed by Kazimierz Krawczyk in the 1970s for the Barbara Artistic Glassworks in Polanica-Zdrój, exemplifies the Polish school of glassmaking within the mid-century modern idiom. Crafted from layered, soda-lime glass colored in the mass, it displays a gentle ivory-white hue with a subtle beige undertone. The form is defined by four vertically stacked, bulbous segments, topped with a softly flared neck. The absence of visible seams and the perfectly smooth surface attest to artisanal, hand-blown craftsmanship. Its minimalist silhouette, echoing the school of Zbigniew Horbowy, recalls a tranquil sculpture—like a fragment of a winter landscape where geometric simplicity meets the softness of light diffused through snow. Free from decorative excess, the glass tells the story of a time when the dialogue between function and form and the value of handcraft defined an object's identity. The 'Bałwanek' vase could be placed atop a natural wood sideboard, where its gentle contours would underscore a serene interior. It would work well in both mid-century
