This vase, created in the 1970s at the Barbara Artistic Glassworks in Polanica Zdrój and designed by Kazimierz Krawczyk, exemplifies the bold spirit of Polish mid-century modern glass design. It is made of layered, mass-colored soda-lime glass, featuring a gradient of orange hues – from a lighter, almost yellow-orange at the top to a deep, amber tone at the base. The form consists of four rounded segments stacked seamlessly, with a slender, flared neck and a solid, stabilizing base. The glass surface is smooth and highly glossy, free from additional textures or patterns. The vase remains in very good condition, showing no visible signs of use, damage, or restoration.The form of this vase tells the story of the Polish glass avant-garde of the 1970s – an era of experimentation, vibrant color, and distinct sculptural language. It echoes the legacy of Zbigniew Horbowy’s school, but in Krawczyk’s hands, the design takes on a playful, modular rhythm.
