ABOUT PRODUCTID 33252
This ceramic vase, produced by the Danish Søholm manufactory on the island of Bornholm in the 1960s, is a quintessential example of Scandinavian modernism. Its low, wide form with a narrow opening emphasizes horizontal proportions and a stable silhouette. Crafted from stoneware, the vase is adorned with hand-modeled reliefs featuring geometric and botanical motifs, characteristic of the era. The layered glazing technique highlights its organic nature—a matte, speckled beige forms the background for precise cobalt blue and earthy brown accents. These appear both in fan-shaped leaf decorations and in fine lines separating decorative bands. The surface is subtly grainy and tactile, with distinct relief work and tonal variations created by the glazing. The underside bears the original Søholm Bornholm Denmark signature and model number 3638. The vase is preserved in its original condition, showing only minor signs of use appropriate to its age, such as small surface scratches or minimal wear to the glaze. This vase speaks with the voice of the 1960s: an era fascinated by nature and the clarity of form that defined postwar Scandinavian design. Its colors evoke the tranquil landscapes of Bornholm—beige like coastal sand, deep cobalt and brown like sea plants and stones. The hand-shaped motifs create a rhythm reminiscent of harmony between people and nature. The vase tells a story of a time when craftsmanship merged with modernity and everyday objects were elevated to small works of art.The vase can be displayed on a low sideboard made of light
