ABOUT PRODUCTID 23631
This tall ceramic vase, designed by Elżbieta Piwek-Białoborska for the Włocławek Faience Factory in 1956, embodies the modernist spirit of 1950s Polish design. The silhouette features a generous, bulbous base that flows seamlessly into a long, slender neck. Made of faience and finished with a glossy glaze, the vase has a smooth, reflective surface. Its primary color is a deep teal blue, accented by evenly spaced horizontal stripes in black and white, creating a bold, geometric pattern. The density of the stripes increases toward the neck, enhancing the visual dynamism and lightness of the form. The diameter is 16 cm, height 31 cm. The vase remains in very good condition, with no visible damage or restoration, and all original elements preserved. The vase channels the optimism and artistic freedom of postwar Polish modernism, telling the story of an era when everyday objects were transformed through color and form. Its design speaks to the energy of the 1950s—when modernity and craftsmanship met, and geometric motifs became a new visual language. The interplay of bold hues and rhythmic lines evokes a sense of movement and vitality, as if the vase still carries the pulse of its time.It lends a decorative rhythm and strong accent to any setting—placed on a light wood sideboard to emphasize textural contrast, or against a neutral wall to highlight the intensity of its teal glaze. The vase pairs well with other mid-century modern elements: minimalist lamps, wooden shelves, or geometric textiles. It can be combined with black or white ceramics to create a graphic dialogue, or displayed with a single sculptural branch to underscore its striking, sculptural quality.
