ABOUT PRODUCTID 1919
This artistic vase, designed by Jaroslav Beranek for the Skrdlovice glassworks in Czechoslovakia circa 1960, exemplifies the glassmaking craftsmanship of the 1960s. The piece is crafted from multicolored glass, with a dominant cobalt blue that gradually transitions to clear glass at the base. The massive form, measuring 24 × 13 × 13 cm, was shaped by hand—evident in its organic, undulating lines and pronounced, applied protrusions on the sides. Subtle irregularities in the form and the tactile texture of the decorative details are characteristic of Czechoslovak modernist glass. The vase is in excellent condition, with no visible chips, damage, or signs of wear. The vase is silent but speaks with the language of its era—bold, expressive, and brimming with a sense of experimentation with color and light. The cobalt glass, like a still summer lake, reflects its surroundings and draws the gaze into its depth. The hand-shaped protrusions evoke the movement of waves, as if the glass were still in a liquid state and Beranek—one of Skrdlovice’s masters—managed to capture the exact moment between matter and light. This object embodies the energy of postwar Central Europe and a fascination with nature translated into the vocabulary of glass. The vase can be placed on a low console made of
