ABOUT PRODUCTID 34735
This vase, designed by Jerzy Słuczan-Orkusz for the Tarnowiec Glassworks, is a distinguished example of Polish modernist glass from the 1970s. Handcrafted from mass-colored soda glass, it features a harmonious amphora-inspired silhouette with balanced proportions. The body presents a cool, semi-translucent blue with a delicately opalescent, milky undertone, while elongated, organic cobalt blue glass applications run vertically along each side, contrasting elegantly with the lighter main color. The surface is perfectly smooth and glossy, reflecting light and emphasizing the vibrancy of the glass, while the clear base reveals the artisan's precision. The vase is preserved in very good condition, showing no signs of wear, damage, or restoration. This form echoes an era when Polish art glass drew inspiration from both avant-garde and classical traditions. The amphora shape recalls ancient vessels, yet the purity of line and minimal ornamentation reveal a distinctly modern sensibility. Light gently passes through the blue glass, illuminating its interior softly, while the deep cobalt applications—like frozen gestures—reference the intuitive artistry of the glassmaker. The vase speaks in the voice of the 1970s, celebrating a fascination with color, material, and the simplicity of form. The vase can be displayed alone on a light wood console or marble surface, where its translucent blue will interact subtly with daylight. It also pairs well with other period art glass pieces, forming a curated composition on a shelf or in a display cabinet. Interiors with modernist, minimalist, or classically eclectic tones provide an ideal backdrop—combine the vase with a neutral palette to accentuate the depth of color and sculptural silhouette.Dimensions: 21.5 × 18 × 15
