ABOUT PRODUCTID 16593
This medium-sized ceramic vase from the 1970s was designed by Jitka Forejtová, a leading figure of Czechoslovak design. Crafted from clay, the vase features a distinctive rectangular form with softly rounded edges and a subtly oval opening at the top. The principal color is a deep, muted chocolate brown with a semi-matt to satin finish, delineating the minimalist silhouette and geometric discipline typical of Central European modernism. The front is accentuated by a contrasting, creamy white glazed panel with a dynamic, tactile texture—organic, almost relief-like, and marked by visible crackled effects, creating a sense of visual depth. The base measures 9 cm in diameter, height 15.5 cm, with a precisely finished and subtly lightened rim. Signed by the designer, the vase displays no signs of wear or damage—its condition can be described as excellent. The vase encapsulates the spirit of the creative avant-garde of the 1970s: it speaks in the language of reduced ornamentation and textural experimentation. The matte brown resonates with the earthy palettes of the era’s interiors, while the abstract glazed composition invites touch and contemplation—suggesting the ceramic itself has captured the pulse of a time poised between tradition and a new, more sensuous aesthetic. Each edge, each irregularity of the glaze echoes the imaginative force of Central European modernism. The vase can be paired with raw wood consoles or graphite shelves to highlight the contrast in textures. It stands out against sandstone-toned or neutral beige walls, where its earthy colors strengthen spatial harmony. Whether presented as a solo accent or in a grouping with other ceramic vessels of varied heights, it works well alongside minimalist prints or clear glassware from the mid-century
