ABOUT PRODUCTID 41523
This ceramic vase from Kravsko, Czechoslovakia, produced in the 1960s, embodies the Brusel modernist style. Its sculptural form features a wide, rounded body that gracefully narrows towards a cylindrical base. The dominant color is a warm, olive-brown with a glossy, glazed finish that imparts a subtly metallic sheen. On each side, symmetrical light blue panels are highlighted by three spherical protrusions—a geometric accent characteristic of Central European modernism. The color transitions are sharply defined, while the brown section displays delicate horizontal ribbing that adds texture and depth. The vase is signed on the underside with the Znojmo manufactory mark and catalog number 6176. It measures 25 cm in height, 23 cm in width, and 18 cm in diameter. The piece is preserved in very good condition, with no signs of damage or restoration. This vase channels the spirit of the 1960s, when the Brusel movement boldly experimented with form and color. The organic curves of its rounded volume are counterbalanced by the playful discipline of geometric protrusions and sharply delineated color fields. The lustrous glaze reflects light, giving the object an almost architectural quality—like a fragment of ceramic scenography from a bygone era, ready to narrate a story of optimism and creative freedom in Central European design. The vase can be paired with other ceramic objects from the Brusel era or with simple pieces in the mid-century modern tradition. It would work well atop a light wood sideboard or as a focal point on a living room table, accentuating the geometric lines of the space. It could be combined with textiles in neutral tones or abstract graphics to bring out its palette and texture. Surrounded by minimalist furniture and glass or metal accessories, the vase offers a subtle touch of Czechoslovak modernism to contemporary interiors.
