ABOUT PRODUCTID 17027
This large faience vase from the Louis Fourmaintraux manufactory was produced in Desvres, France, in the late 19th century as a historicist tribute to Dutch Delftware from the 17th and 18th centuries. Crafted from creamy white faience, the vase is enveloped in vivid, hand-painted decoration using several shades of cobalt blue. The form features a bulbous lower body gently narrowing towards a long, slender neck with a slight external flare at the rim. The central section displays detailed floral motifs—branches, flowers, birds—executed with tonal gradients that add pronounced visual depth. A zigzag border circles the base, while the neck is adorned with a stylized scale pattern interspersed with cartouches of floral ornamentation. The original maker’s mark remains visible underneath. The construction is precise, with clear separation between the distinct elements of the design and meticulously applied decoration
