The 'Cyntia' vase, designed by Zbigniew Horbowy for Huta Szkła Inwald in the 1970s, is a vivid example of Polish modernist art glass. Made from soda-lime colored glass, it features a warm, semi-translucent peachy-pink hue that gently fades into a milky white at the base and neck. Its organic, bulbous form with a short cylindrical foot and flared rim is enlivened by a dynamic, diagonal ribbon in an intense red-orange shade spiraling around the body. A nearly black accent at the base grounds the composition. The glass surface is smooth, lustrous, and free of visible grain, emphasizing the high quality and refined detail of the craftsmanship. The vase’s form and palette reflect the mid-century modern aesthetic as well as a contemporary collector’s sensibility. Preserved in very good condition—free from chips, scratches, restoration, or wear—all colorations and elements remain original. This vase tells the story of Polish modernism in the 1970s, when experimentation with material and color signaled a new optimism in design. Its form recalls a polished drop of light, capturing and diffusing the day’s rays across thoughtfully graduated tones. The diagonal ribbon, like an artist’s gesture, introduces a touch of expression and dynamism to the tranquil shape, evoking the boldness of design explorations of the era. It is an object that would not only witness but participate in daily life—confident yet balanced, open to light and modernity. The vase may be placed on a light wood sideboard or a low table in a living room, where natural light will highlight the depth of
