The 'Glut' vase, designed by Jan Drost in the 1970s for Huta Szkła Gospodarczego 'Ząbkowice', exemplifies the bold, sculptural direction of Polish art glass from that era. Its organic form is elongated and asymmetrical, widening gently at the base and tapering toward the top, where an undulating rim recalls the moment when molten glass solidifies. The deep, saturated turquoise body—colored in the mass—creates a vivid interplay of light, while vertical ridges and dynamic folds emphasize its hand-crafted identity. Made of thick, heavy glass, the vase has a rounded, stable base, echoing the flowing lines of the overall design. Measuring 33 cm in height, with a width of 11 cm and a depth of 10 cm, the piece is preserved in very good condition, with no visible damage or signs of use. This vase speaks in the voice of 1970s Polish modernism: its shape is dynamic, suggesting the movement of hot glass in the artisan’s hands, while the intense turquoise hue evokes the freshness and creative boldness of the period. The form and color of 'Glut' tell a story of a time when Polish glassmaking embraced experimentation and expressive freedom. In daylight, the glossy surface catches and scatters reflections, casting subtle turquoise shadows—a contained fragment of the element, stilled in glass. The vase may be displayed solo on a wooden console or sideboard to highlight its sculptural presence, or combined with other studio glass objects from the era. It pairs well with minimalist mid-century designs, raw concrete, or natural stone. 'Glut' will stand out in eclectic, collector’s interiors, or against a bright wall where its saturated turquoise can fully articulate the chromatic depth of the space.
