This Imari vase from Japan, dating to the late 19th or early 20th century, is crafted from fine faience and finished with a high-gloss glaze. Its form is classically Japanese: a gently flared neck, rounded shoulders, and a subtly tapering body that reflects the elegant utility of the era’s ceramics. The warm, creamy white ground is the backdrop for vivid, hand-painted decoration in saturated tones—deep cobalt blue, iron-red, gold, and orange. Traditional Imari motifs dominate: stylized peonies and chrysanthemums framed in cartouches, intertwined with intricate foliate and geometric patterns.
