ABOUT PRODUCTID 33438
The Ipsen ceramic vase from Denmark, dating to the 1920s, is a rare example of Scandinavian Art Nouveau. Its form is spherical and gently flattened, with a small, upright neck and a subtle, narrow opening. The smooth surface is coated with a semi-matte glaze in a warm terracotta tone that transitions seamlessly into a cool, matte green at the base. The most distinctive feature is the raised, three-dimensional floral motif: stylized, sculpted flowers and leaves in shades of olive green and brownish-orange, modeled with attention to the fluid lines and rhythm characteristic of the Secessionist style. The ceramic texture is even, with a satin sheen that enhances the depth of the colors. The base is finished in an almost black tone, and the piece is signed. Its proportions are harmonious—a wide, rounded body and a low, stable foot create a cohesive, balanced silhouette. The vase is preserved in excellent, authentic condition, with original patina and no visible damage or signs of restoration.
This vase tells the story of an era when craftsmanship and nature merged in harmonious unity. Art Nouveau ornamentation flows gently around the body, while the colors evoke the cool light of the north and the muted hues of early morning gardens. The piece, like an echo from the 1920s, whispers of a time when organic form expressed a longing for the order
