ABOUT PRODUCTID 20456
This vase, designed by Zygmunt Buksowicz in the 1960s at the Steatyt porcelain manufactory in Katowice, exemplifies a bold approach to utilitarian ceramics. Its asymmetrical, dynamic form bears the influence of cubism, reflecting the essence of Polish mid-century modern and pop art. Crafted from porcelain in a cool, slightly off-white tone with a glossy glaze, the surface is enhanced by a raised, organic texture and hand-painted gold and black lines emphasizing the geometric divisions. A distinctive cut-out on the side accentuates the sculptural qualities, while the proportions—a wide base flowing into a narrow, flared neck—give the piece a striking rhythm. The condition is very good, with no visible damage or signs of wear. The vase resonates with the voice of 1960s Polish modernism, a time when artistic expression intertwined with functional design. Its form recalls an era open to experimentation: the smooth porcelain becomes a canvas for geometric divisions and shimmering gold contours, reminiscent of period salons and exhibitions. The interplay between white and gold, texture and line, evokes an object equally at home in a modernist studio or the curated interior of a collector. This piece could be displayed alongside other ceramics from the era or placed solo on a solid wood console, where its dynamic shape would stand out against neutral backgrounds. It works well in mid-century modern, minimalist, or eclectic interiors, serving as a counterpoint to clean lines and natural materials. It may also be paired with abstract graphics or glass sculpture to highlight its sculptural dimension and pop art roots.Height: 31 cm, width: 10 cm, length: 17 cm. Made from glazed porcelain with hand-painted decoration. No special care required—
