The 'Kardynał' vase, designed by Zbigniew Horbowy in 1971 for Huta Szkła 'Sudety' in Szczytna Śląska, is an example of 1970s Polish modernist glassmaking. Crafted from mass-colored sodium glass, it features a tonal gradient shifting from translucent amber-orange at the base, through a subtly shaded middle section, to a vivid, sunlit yellow at the flared rim. The surface displays fine air bubbles, created by the 'antico' foamed glass technique, adding microtexture and enhancing the play of light. The form is based on clear geometry: a cylindrical body, sharply defined shoulders, and a wide, bowl-like neck create a distinct architectural division and visual equilibrium.
