ABOUT PRODUCTID 5174
This lime green vase, measuring 29 cm in height and 14 cm in diameter, was designed by Jerzy Słuczan-Orkusz in 1972 and produced in Kraków by the Institute of Glass and Ceramics. The vase features a cylindrical, geometric form rooted in the modernist vocabulary of late 1960s and early 1970s Polish design. The colored glass is saturated in a vivid yellow-green, semi-transparent and glossy, giving the piece a luminous quality. Its most distinctive feature is the sculptural, irregular glass wrap encircling the midsection—crafted from the same tinted glass, but with a rough, organic, hand-formed texture that stands in bold contrast to the smooth body. The construction is seamless, with a flat, stable base. The vase is preserved in excellent condition, with no damage or signs of use. This glass object carries the spirit of Polish modernism at the dawn of the 1970s, when bold colors in glassware offered a vibrant counterpoint to the austerity of everyday life. The lime hue, radiant and light-filled, reflects the experimental approach to color and texture that defined Jerzy Słuczan-Orkusz’s work. The vase seems to narrate a story of its era—of formal courage and expressive search—where the smooth silhouette meets a dynamic, almost spontaneous wrap, as though the glass itself captured the creative gesture of the artist. The vase can serve as a centerpiece on a natural wood sideboard or among other Polish glass vessels from the 1960s and 70s, highlighting its color and tactile
