ABOUT PRODUCTID 12272
This vase, designed by Jerzy Słuczan-Orkusz in the 1980s, exemplifies Polish studio glass influenced by Andalusian, Venetian, and Spanish glassware from the 16th and 17th centuries. The body, crafted from thick, wine-red glass saturated in color, rises from a slim, slightly conical base to a wide, outwardly flared neck. Two transparent, finely curled handles are attached symmetrically, referencing the Rococo decorative vocabulary and adding sculptural vigour to the vessel’s silhouette. The surface is exceptionally smooth and high-gloss, reflecting light with ease and highlighting the quality of hand workmanship. Measuring 30 cm in height and 9 cm at the base, the vase is preserved in excellent, original condition, free from visible signs of use, damage, or restoration – a refined example of vintage Polish artistic glass. The vase’s form and tone evoke a bygone era: the deep, mature maroon hue recalls the ambiance of Mediterranean palaces and historic glass collections, where color and ornament signified both mastery and cultural connection. The spiralling, Rococo-inspired handles seem to tell a quiet story of fascination with historic baroque detail, infusing the piece with fluid ornamentality. The glossy surface lends itself to playful interactions with light – reflecting lively highlights by day, and settling into a stage-like intensity as evening falls.Placed atop a sideboard or on a shelf in the living room, the vase could be paired with classic glass or ceramics to foreground its collectible character. Its lines suit both eclectic and historically inspired interiors,
