This pressed glass vase from the Ząbkowice Glassworks is a representative example of Polish 1970s design, conceived in the spirit of mid-century modern. Made from thick, smoky grey glass with subtle violet undertones, it presents an organic silhouette: a slender form tapering upwards and closing in a softly irregular, multifaceted rim. The surface is glossy and smooth, without ornamental decoration, which enhances the interplay of light and the depth of colour. The walls of the vase feature pronounced, irregular vertical ridges and asymmetric bulges that recall the flow of molten glass – a hallmark of an era that prized the material’s honesty and sought expression through minimalism. The base is weighted and stable. The vase is in very good condition, with no chips or cracks; only gentle production marks typical for hand-pressed glass are present at the bottom.This form carries the silent vocabulary of the 1970s, when Polish glassmakers and designers explored pure lines and timeless balance between function and material expressiveness.
