ABOUT PRODUCTID 4948
This millefiori vase by Fratelli Toso was created in the 1980s on the island of Murano, a centuries-old center of glassmaking mastery. The vessel draws inspiration from neoclassical amphorae, with a wide, rounded body, slender neck, and flared mouth. The body is crafted from layered mosaic glass, with a dominant deep navy blue interspersed with vivid marbled patterns of yellow and green. Two large, spiraled handles made of clear glass with a satin, frosted finish provide a striking contrast to the highly polished, glossy surface of the main body. The slightly elevated, transparent base adds both stability and visual lightness. The construction is seamless, with harmonious proportions and balanced details. Condition: the vase shows no signs of wear, chips, or damage; all elements are original and there is no evidence of restoration. This vase carries the spirit of late Italian modernism, where tradition meets experiment. The navy blue glass, reminiscent of the Murano lagoon's depths, sets the stage for fiery, marbled veins—each colored streak echoing the energy and spontaneity of the island.
