ABOUT PRODUCTID 38506
This vase from the Mimoza set, produced in the 1970s by Huta Szkła Hortensja in Piotrków Trybunalski, is a notable example of Polish art glass in the modernist tradition. Designed by Stanisław Kowalczyk and Janusz Kazanecki, the vase features a distinctive rectangular silhouette with softly rounded corners and a flat base—an homage to mid-century modern aesthetics. Crafted from soda glass and surface-colored with metal oxides, it displays a rich, iridescent amber-gold hue, accentuated by copper, bronze, green, and purple tones. The glossy, smooth surface is visually enlivened by organic, marbled patterns and delicate speckling, revealing the hand-finished quality. The absence of visible seams attests to the high level of craftsmanship. Measuring 17 × 15 × 7 cm, the vase is preserved in very good condition, without damages or signs of wear. This vase tells the story of Polish modernism in the 1970s—a time of bold experimentation with form and color. When light passes through its iridescent surface, the depths and subtle transitions of color become apparent, evoking the slow transformations of the era in which it was made. The multicolored, dreamy patterning recalls painterly washes or cosmic nebulas, as if the glass has absorbed the creative atmosphere of the designers’ studio—one filled with courageous choices and deep respect for the art of making. The Mimoza vase may be placed on a light-toned wood sideboard or within a minimalist 1970s-inspired arrangement, where its color and abstract pattern become a decorative focal point. It pairs well with simply shaped ceramics, glass-fronted cabinets, or geometric mirrors. One might also combine it with textiles in
