ABOUT PRODUCTID 1712
This vase, designed by Jaroslav Beranek for the Skrdlovice glassworks in Czechoslovakia, represents the essence of 1960s glass modernism. Created around 1960, it is hand-formed from multicolored art glass, featuring a saturated color transition: deep cobalt blue at the wide, sculptural, asymmetrical rim, shifting through rich emerald green in the body, and fading to clear at the thick base. The form is substantial and organic, with an elongated, tulip-like silhouette and pronounced vertical ribbing that accentuates the play of light and shadow across the glossy surface. The heavy, polished base bears visible grinding marks, attesting to its artisanal craftsmanship. The vase is preserved in excellent, original condition, showing no signs of damage or restoration. This piece echoes the voice of the 1960s, a time when the Czechoslovak art glass movement embraced bold colors and fluid, freeform shapes. The vase narrates a story of experimentation with color and light—its gradient from cool blue to green unfolds like a tale of modernity unafraid of intensity. The asymmetrical rim evokes the motion of a wave or the edge of a flower petal, while the weight of the glass balances the expressive color, as if freezing a fleeting moment in time. It can be displayed on an oak console or a minimalist side table, where its multicolored glass becomes the focal point in natural daylight. The vase works well as a sculptural solo statement in a mid-century modern living space or among other collectible objects: ceramics from
