This vase, designed by Jaroslav Beranek for the Skrdlovice glassworks around 1960 in Czechoslovakia, is crafted from hand-formed art glass. Its organic, asymmetrical form stands out with sculptural, irregular contours and a substantial, weighty presence. The glass displays a sophisticated gradient of color: from deep brown at the base, through a warm, honey amber, to nearly clear tones at the top. Inside, multi-colored swirls and subtle transitions create a sense of depth and movement, further emphasized by the highly translucent material. The surface is glossy and smooth, with gentle undulations that reveal the artisan's touch. The base is polished flat and signed with an impressed mark in the glass. The condition is excellent, with no visible damage and only the faintest signs of careful, age-appropriate handling. The vase carries the narrative of 1960s Czech modernism, when studio glass boldly explored new forms and palettes. Its shape seems to flow, as if capturing a moment of transformation—dense ambers shifting into lightness and clarity, suggesting a dialogue between earth and illumination.
