ABOUT PRODUCTID 5274
This porcelain vase, designed by Ludmiła Pokornianka and produced in Wałbrzych circa 1960, is a Polish example of the New Look style within modernism. The vessel stands tall and slender (height 27 cm, diameter 8 cm), crafted in porcelain with a deep maroon tone and a mirror-like glossy finish. Its surface is adorned with a dynamic, geometric pattern of intersecting white and light grey lines, evenly distributed across the body. The narrow neck gently flares at the rim while the smoothly rounded body tapers towards the base. The base features a green underglaze stamp reading 'W / Wałbrzych / Made in Poland', and there are additional hand-painted details in black overglaze, emphasizing the uniqueness of the decoration. The vase is preserved in excellent condition, showing no damage or signs of restoration. The form of this vase tells the story of the 1960s—a period when Polish design sought modernity and lightness, and designers like Pokornianka boldly experimented with abstract decoration. The geometric lines evoke traces of architectural sketches, while the glossy porcelain reflects light, lending the object a sense of visual depth. This piece seems to conjure the spirit of contemporary interiors of its era: modern, open to the world, searching for fresh forms and color, yet grounded
