This porcelain vase from the Bogucice manufactory, designed by Henryk Baran in the 1950s-60s, exemplifies the Polish New Look within the mid-century modern canon. Crafted from white porcelain, glazed and hand-painted, it features a dynamic, asymmetrical silhouette with a sculptural presence. The deep, glossy brick red body is boldly contrasted by crisp white bands at the base and rim, while the arched white handle seamlessly connects the body to the neck. The rim is delicately gilded, highlighting the artisan’s skill. The surface is smooth and highly glazed, with no visible joints. The original manufacturer’s mark is present on the base. The vase is in very good condition, with no visible chips, cracks, or signs of wear.The vase’s form tells the story of Polish design in the postwar decades—a time when modernity and global trends began to influence local artisanship.
