ABOUT PRODUCTID 1674
Ceramic Vase No. 232 is a 1957 design by Jan Sowiński, produced by the Włocławek Faience Factory. The vase features an asymmetric, sculptural silhouette with organic lines, characteristic of late 1950s modernism. Its surface is covered in a deep, cool teal glaze, shifting in tone to create a dynamic, almost watercolor effect. Hand-painted, glossy white stripes and a prominent spiral motif accentuate the flowing form and sense of movement, while a round opening at the top serves both decorative and functional purposes. Made of glazed faience, the vase has a smooth, glassy texture, finished in a high gloss that enhances the depth and vibrancy of the colors. The piece is preserved in excellent condition, with no visible signs of wear, damage, or restoration – all elements remain original. This vase carries the breath of postwar modernity in its silhouette: a lightness of sculpture and a boldness of artistic exploration, echoing the spirit of Polish mid-century design. The dynamic teal glaze and expressive brushstrokes of white capture the experimental energy of the 1950s, when tradition met a new, inventive approach to functional form. The vase seems to whisper stories from an era when Polish design sought its own language, blending utility with artistic freedom and painterly expression. Vase No. 232 would work well as a solo centerpiece on
