ABOUT PRODUCTID 4891
This crystal vase, designed by Josef Hoffmann for the Ludwig Moser & Sohne glassworks, is an outstanding example of craftsmanship from the 1920s–1930s, reflecting the late Viennese Secession and early modernist aesthetics. The olive-toned crystal glass, cut with pronounced planar facets, forms a striking, multifaceted silhouette with architectural presence. The construction consists of stacked segments with sharp edges, a symmetrical, gently tapering base, and a wide, octagonal mouth. The surface is highly polished, almost mirror-like, intensifying the interplay of light on the facets and highlighting the depth of the cool olive hue. The vase measures 25.5 cm in height and 15 cm in diameter. Condition is excellent, with no damage, scratches, or restoration; the edges and surfaces remain crisp and unaltered. The form of this object speaks in the language of Viennese Secession, where geometric discipline meets modern function. The vase seems to recount an era that valued both decorative richness and purity of line—its faceted surfaces evoke architectural motifs from the early twentieth century. As light plays across the crystal, delicate reflections ripple across nearby surfaces, subtly shifting throughout the day. The olive shade introduces a note of distinction and calm, serving as a timeless, collectible accent. This type of vase could be displayed on a marble console or wooden sideboard, where its sculptural form takes center stage. It pairs well with minimalist decor—a single branch, a ceramic sculpture, or a framed graphite drawing. Modernist interiors, eclectic living rooms with a touch of historical elegance, or curated collections would benefit from its presence as a strong focal point. It may be combined with other glass objects of simple lines or left as a solitary piece against a pale wall, allowing its interplay of light
