ABOUT PRODUCTID 19823
This vase, designed by Jerzy Słuczan-Orkusz and created at the Glass Institute workshop in Kraków in 1972, stands as a vivid example of Polish modernism from the 1970s. Made of uranium glass in a saturated orange hue, it measures 30 cm high with a diameter of 15 cm. The composition is classical in structure: a pronounced circular foot supports a cylindrical body that smoothly transitions into a flared, trumpet-shaped mouth. A distinctive decorative coil, crafted from the same orange glass, wraps elegantly around the vessel's upper section and ends in a rounded nub. The surface is flawlessly glossy and smooth, with subtle tonal variations in the glass lending depth to the form. There are no visible scratches, chips, or signs of use—the vase remains in very good preservation and has not required restoration. This piece speaks in the voice of its era—a time marked by color bravery, optimism, and experimentation with everyday forms. The flowing rim and dynamic coil evoke a moment when Polish utility glass embraced the language of international modernism. The vibrant orange, animated by the play of light, brings a sense of radiant energy—each curve of the glass seems to pulse with the urban tempo and exuberance of the early '70s. This is glassware that interacts not only with physical space, but also with the changing daylight. The vase may be combined with other mid-century modern vessels, making a statement against neutral backdrops or alongside geometric accents in chrome, brass, or raw wood. It is well suited to interiors with retro touches, but can also be integrated into eclectic, collector’s settings alongside vividly textured glass, ceramics, or textiles. Displayed solo on a sideboard or console in natural light, the vase reveals its full brilliance through the movement of light across its sculptural details.
