ABOUT PRODUCTID 36095
This hand-formed vase from Wołomin Glassworks, designed by Tadeusz Szymański in the 1960s, exemplifies Polish mid-century glass artistry. Crafted from soda-lime glass colored in a rich, saturated shade of red-orange, the vase features a glossy, polished surface and a distinctly sculptural silhouette. The body is bulbous at the base, tapering elegantly toward the top, where it flares into a collar with subtle handles. A large oval cut-out at the lower section acts as a visual handle and lends the form a dynamic, modernist accent. The glass is substantial and seamless, reflecting a high level of craftsmanship. Dimensions: height 10 cm, length 15.5 cm, width 8.5 cm. The condition is described as very good – there are no traces of damage, wear or restoration; the vase remains in its original state. This vase carries the voice of the Polish avant-garde of the 1960s, when craftsmanship met bold experimentation with form and color. Its vibrant hue and dynamic shape evoke the energy of a burgeoning modernism, as if the glass itself were telling the story of an era where material exploration equaled artistic freedom. The smooth, lustrous surface reflects light like a lake at sunset, while the sculptural cut-out adds a rhythm of movement to the piece. The vase can be paired with other 1960s objects – ceramic figurines, minimalist candleholders, or geometric metal decor. It stands out beautifully against light, neutral walls, where the saturated glass becomes the focal point of the interior. In a mid-century modern living room, it would complement light wood furniture, simple textiles, and single graphic accents; in more eclectic settings, it could be joined by a collection of art glass or placed near an abstract artwork.
