This large, hand-formed vase was designed by Jerzy Słuczan-Orkusz for the Tarnowiec Glassworks in the 1980s. Crafted from soda glass in an intense warm pink with a subtle cool undertone, the color is evenly distributed and highly saturated across the entire surface. The elongated oval body flows seamlessly into a straight, narrow neck, which gently flares to a wide, flat rim. Absent of ornamentation or pattern, the design focuses all attention on form and saturation of color, aided by the object’s glossy, mirror-like surface—a nod to the Polish minimalist aesthetics of the late twentieth century. As a hand-blown piece, there are no visible seams; precise and careful craftsmanship reflects the traditions of the era’s glassmaking.
