ABOUT PRODUCTID 14923
This crystal glass vase, designed by Miloslav Klinger for the Czech glassworks Železny Brod Sklo in the 1960s, exemplifies the organic spirit of post-war modernism. Hand-blown, the vase shows an asymmetrical, teardrop-shaped silhouette with a gently elevated, pointed edge on one side. The coloration transitions from subtle pink and violet to transparent and amber hues, forming a distinctive gradient. No decorative patterns disrupt its purity of line; instead, the focus is on color transitions and the play of light. The base is precisely cut and polished, and the glossy, smooth surface reveals subtle swirls characteristic of hand-blown glass. Thoughtfully proportioned, the broad base tapers seamlessly into a slender, elongated body. Condition is very good – free from damage, with minimal signs of age-appropriate use. This vase channels the narrative of Czech modernism, capturing an era fascinated by forms inspired by nature, light, and movement. It seems to enclose within itself the air and mood of the 1960s: simplicity merging with expressive subtlety. The color gradient evokes early morning mist, scattered by the first rays of sun. The rim appears to rise as if to catch a fleeting gesture or a dance of light. Depending on the time of day, the glass shifts tone, inviting an ever-changing interplay with its surroundings. The vase may be placed alongside other glass objects or minimalist ceramic vessels to accentuate its transparency and organic form. It would work well on a light-toned console, a natural wood or marble tabletop – paired with a simple artwork, a single branch, or flower that won’t overshadow its presence. It harmonizes with mid-century modern interiors as well
