This tall, cylindrical vase from the 1970s, designed by Lucyna Pijaczewska, is an example of Polish art glass from the postmodern era. Its construction is marked by a minimalist form: a high, straight-sided cylinder topped with a subtly flared rim. The vessel is made of colored glass with a smooth, glossy surface. The main color is a saturated red that gradually transitions into orange near the top edge, creating a striking ombre effect. Two rounded horizontal bands encircle the body approximately one-third from the base, emphasizing its sculptural silhouette and providing a gentle, geometric accent. The vase shows no signs of damage or use and remains in very good condition. In this glass form echoes the spirit of a pivotal era, when Polish art glass began to boldly draw inspiration from Western European postmodernism. Color melts into layers of light, and the vase seems to recount the dynamism of the 1970s, where simplicity was combined with vivid color statement. The rounded bands introduce a rhythmic accent while the gradient colors evoke both the drafts of the designer and the search for new means of expression in the medium of glass. This vase could be paired with a 1960s or 1970s sideboard, where the warm wood tones would intensify the vibrancy of the glass's red hue. It would also function well as a stand-alone object in a pared-back interior, commanding attention whether placed on a console or among contrasting vessels in other hues. It is worth combining it with ceramics or silver details to underline its modernist character, or with a collection of broad-leaved plants to let their forms softly reflect in the glossy glass.
