The 'Propeller' vase, designed by Jan Kotik in the 1950s for the Skrdlovice glassworks, stands as a striking example of Czechoslovak mid-century modern glass artistry. Hand-formed from crystal, the vase features a bold cylindrical body, rendered in a dynamic palette: deep purple seamlessly merges into emerald green and cobalt blue, with organic, fluid color transitions. Sculptural, wing-like protrusions spiral around the form, evoking the motion of propeller blades or outstretched wings. The surface is highly glossy, almost mirror-like, enhancing the play of light and depth of color. The hand-ground base attests to the refined level of craftsmanship. Measuring 33 cm in height and 12.5 cm in diameter, the vase is preserved in excellent original condition, showing no signs of use, damage, or restoration. This vase embodies the creative spirit of 1950s Czechoslovakia, a period when glass became a field for bold experimentation with form and color. Its dynamic winged contours recall the movement of air or spinning propellers, while the way light dances across the mirrored surface suggests waves or swirling glass in motion. It is an object that carries the energy of its era, when applied art developed a new, expressive language—bold and organic, yet rooted in artisanal precision. In interiors, the vase may be paired with simple, modernist furniture to highlight its sculptural form. It works beautifully on a light
