ABOUT PRODUCTID 23627
This ceramic vase, designed by Wit Płażewski for the Włocławek Faience Factory, was produced after 1958 and embodies the spirit of Polish mid-century modernism. The organic silhouette features a rounded body that gently flows into a slightly flared neck, with harmonious, balanced proportions. The surface is adorned with a dynamic vertical pattern of elongated stripes in turquoise, deep navy, and white. This hand-painted motif creates a sense of movement and rhythmic energy, while the glossy glaze finish gives the vase a smooth, lustrous texture. The vase stands 18.5 cm tall. Crafted from glazed faience, it shows no signs of damage or restoration. The condition is very good, with a flawless surface and no scratches or chips. This vase channels the atmosphere of postwar Polish modernity—a period when nature and abstraction merged in everyday objects. Its form and decoration reflect a search for rhythm and harmony: the flame-like blue and navy stripes evoke the motion of air or water, while subtle brushwork variations testify to the artisan’s hand. The glossy finish catches the light, intensifying the vivid palette and casting delicate reflections across the ceramic—almost as if the vase softly speaks of freshness and the optimism of its era.The Włocławek vase can be displayed solo on a wooden console or marble surface, where its turquoise and navy colors become a striking decorative focal point. It would complement mid-century modern interiors, but could also serve as a counterpoint in minimalist or eclectic spaces, paired with light textiles or neutral ceramics. It can be combined with other Polish faience from the 1950s or with contemporary geometric prints to highlight its heritage and the distinctive rhythm of its time.
