ABOUT PRODUCTID 42458
This West German ceramic vase from the 1970s is a quintessential example of mid-century modern and collectible 'Fat Lava' ceramics. Its tall, cylindrical silhouette, defined by a pronounced neck, wide flared rim, and a single robust handle, presents a sculptural presence. The body is adorned with a regular geometric relief—raised squares filled with stylized floral and starburst motifs, arranged in a rhythmic, almost graphic grid. A deep, glossy black glaze serves as the backdrop for vivid red accents, drawing the eye and highlighting the precision of the pattern. The glossy finish amplifies the depth of color and brings a dynamic, light-reflective quality to the surface. Relief motifs also repeat along the rim, enhancing the vase's decorative character. The ceramic is smooth and well-fired, free of visible cracks or chips, with minor scratches and signs of use in keeping with its vintage age.The vase's form and color palette evoke the 1970s, when West German ceramics embraced texture, contrast, and boldness. As if speaking with the voice of its era, the piece tells a story of design bravery, graphic thinking, and the desire for impactful accents in interiors. The rhythmic relief grid echoes the pulse of a modernist city: repetition, energy, and daring combinations
