ABOUT PRODUCTID 20235
This handled vase, designed by Kazimierz Krawczyk in the 1970s for the “Sudety” Glassworks in Szczytna Śląska, exemplifies Polish mid-century modern art glass. Made from cased, colored soda-lime glass, it features a harmonious gradient from cool, light green at the base, through yellow-green tones, to a subtle turquoise at the rim. Its profiled silhouette—with a wide base, slender, tapering midsection, and flared rim—is complemented by a single circular handle at the neck, seamlessly integrated into the design. The glass is semi-translucent, with a smooth satin finish and gentle gloss, while the flat, polished bottom reveals high standards of handcraftsmanship. The vase is preserved in very good condition, with no visible damage or traces of wear. This piece speaks with the voice of Polish 1970s design, where experimental boldness met a refined sense of form. The color gradient and fluid lines evoke an era when everyday objects took on artistic overtones. The single handle, a poised gesture in glass, emphasizes sculptural lightness and a sense of freedom—as if the vase itself tells a story of seeking harmony between function and decoration, at a time when the Polish school of glass was gaining international recognition. The vase can be placed on a sideboard or console in the living room, where its color gradation is best revealed in natural light. It may be paired with modern, minimalist shapes—such as geometric metal candleholders or raw ceramics—to bring out a contrast of textures. It also works as a standalone accent in an eclectic collector’s interior, alongside other glass objects from the era or a 1970s-style poster. Its distinctive form will fit both in mid-century modern arrangements and in spaces with contemporary, understated furnishings.
