ABOUT PRODUCTID 23804
This vase from the 1960s, designed by the Institute of Industrial Design and produced by the Ćmielów Porcelain Factory, is an example of Polish mid-century modern craftsmanship. Made of porcelain, it stands out with its deep, amethyst purple color and high-gloss finish. The white accent is visible inside the oval pierced detail near the base. The vase features an elongated, organic, asymmetrical form with a narrow neck and compact base. Its surface is smooth and reflective, without visible joints or decorative gilding. The underside bears the mark 'Ć | ĆMIELÓW | MADE | IN POLAND' as well as the inscription 'wypis.' The overall condition is very good, with no damages or signs of repair. This vase speaks in the language of Polish modernism from the 1960s, a time when porcelain design moved from traditional motifs toward daring experiments in form and color. The openwork element highlights the sculptural nature of the object, while the purple surface reflects light like a sheet of glass, introducing a play of reflections to the interior. It is an object that seems to tell the story of an era when Polish design searched for its own identity—balancing utility with artistic vision. The vase is best featured solo on a light-toned console, an oak sideboard, or in a minimalist cabinet, where its color and silhouette can be fully appreciated. It can be paired with other mid-century modern accents—geometric ceramics, glassware in contrasting colors, or simple wall graphics. Interiors kept in neutral, calm hues will emphasize the intensity of the purple; for a more eclectic arrangement, it is worth combining it with off-white, grey, or bottle green to create a subtle, gallery-like effect at home.
