ABOUT PRODUCTID 3440
The Krokus saucer was designed in 1962 at the Ćmielów Porcelain Factory by Wincenty Potacki. Crafted from smooth porcelain, it features on-glaze painting and gilded detailing. Against a deep, cool-toned violet background, three white diagonal stripes, each bordered with a fine gold line, radiate from the rim toward the white center. The round shape with a slightly raised edge creates balanced proportions, emphasizing the modernist style of the 1960s. The surface remains free of wear, highlighting the precise execution and cohesive design. This piece conveys the lightness of the 1960s, when geometric patterns and bold color contrasts shaped a new era in Polish design. The violet ground and abstract lines evoke the vibrant rhythm of modernism, while gold accents soften the composition with a subtle cadence. The saucer expresses a drive for simplicity without sacrificing distinctiveness—as if capturing a fragment of its time, recalling moments of shared coffee and everyday rituals. It can be paired with a matching cup or contrasted with white porcelain to emphasize its colors. The saucer works as a decorative element on a sideboard or coffee table, surrounded by glass or metal accents. Placing it on a light surface or wooden tabletop allows the violet and gold to stand out under natural light. Complementary textiles in muted tones and geometric accessories will further enhance the modernist character of the piece.
