ABOUT PRODUCTID 15272
This 1930s wall lamp is an early Czech example of Bauhaus-influenced lighting. The body is formed from glossy black Bakelite creating saturated tubular ends and a smooth, rectilinear back surface for wall mounting. Its central section is defined by a gently curved, opaline white glass diffuser with a highly polished surface, serving as the main light-emitting plane. A small, white, cylindrical rotary switch is positioned on the lamp’s top, a rational functional element in the project’s otherwise uncluttered visual language. The material juxtaposition of Bakelite and glass provides both striking contrast and accentuates the lamp’s geometric clarity. Lacking any ornament or signatures, its strict design relies solely on bare geometry and efficient light distribution. A visible metal screw at one end denotes the mounting point or electrical connection. The lamp is preserved in very good restored condition, with clean surfaces and no visible scratches or cracks. This piece carries the concise voice of 1930s functionalist avant-garde: a reflection of an era that valued material honesty, visible construction, and strict rationality over embellishment. The lamp seems to whisper to the modern viewer: “Here, light serves—without excess.” The depth of the Bakelite’s black, contrasted with the milky white glass, evokes a focused atmosphere—an expression of early industrial modernity, where form and purpose yield to the imperative of simplicity. This lamp can be used in interiors referencing modernism or minimalism; it may be paired with a low raw-wood bookshelf, a chrome console, or a glass display cabinet, creating a subdued composition for the design collector. It will add discipline to a home office with metal accents, and performs equally well against a white wall in a living room or hallway, alongside
