This pair of wall sconces from Raak Amsterdam, crafted in the 1960s and attributed to Willem van Oyen Sr., exemplifies mid-century glass artistry inspired by brutalism and the stained glass windows of Chartres Cathedral. Each lamp is handmade from thick, textured glass arranged in a rectangular, multi-layered composition with visible seams and overlaps. The colored glass combines translucent gold, amber, and ochre tones with accents of deep blue and ruby, producing a mosaic-like effect. The surface is highly varied: vertical ribbing contrasts with rough, irregular glossy planes, intensifying the play of light.
