The Ikea Stoja wall lamp, designed by Ettore Sottsass and produced in Sweden in the 1980s, is an example of postmodernist design with a clear Memphis influence. Its form consists of bold contrasts: the tapered lampshade, crafted from glossy off-white plastic, is enhanced by embossed concentric circular motifs that give it a geometric structure. The high-gloss red painted wooden base is paired with a matte blue geometric arrowhead at the end of a natural wood rod, completed by a cylindrical yellow hinge that enables precise angle adjustment. The lamp combines gloss and matte textures, along with a vibrant palette of primary colors, all hallmarks of Sottsass’s Memphis aesthetic.
