ABOUT PRODUCTID 9221
This large asymmetrical wall mirror from Norway, dating from the 1960s, exemplifies the mid-century Scandinavian approach to combining functionality with sculptural form. The mirror glass features an irregular, organic contour with gently curved and slightly trapezoidal edges, creating a dynamic and modern visual effect. The frame is crafted from solid teak wood in a warm medium-brown shade with a subtle reddish undertone, finished smoothly with a satin sheen that highlights the natural grain and texture. Visible round metal fasteners at each corner serve both as a discreet decorative accent and as a testament to robust construction. Measuring 83 cm in height and 40 cm in width, its elongated proportions and slender silhouette are characteristic of high-quality northern European design from the era. The back is equipped with a sturdy metal hook for wall mounting. The mirror is preserved in very good vintage condition, showing only minor traces of use and no damage or significant wear. The mirror’s form tells a story of Nordic fascination with light and organic lines—like glass capturing the movement of wind over a fjord or the ripple of water along the Norwegian coast. The teak frame, with its pronounced grain and warm hue, evokes the interiors of Scandinavian homes where every detail was conceived for daily use and longevity. The metal fasteners allude to a respect for craftsmanship: not just functional, but an intentional design choice where each element has its place and purpose. The mirror can be hung vertically in a narrow hallway to visually elongate the space, or horizontally above a low sideboard in the living room, where its irregular shape creates a soft counterpoint to rectiline
