This wall-mounted coat rack from the 1970s and 1980s exemplifies Polish utilitarian design from the People’s Republic era, combining solid wood, metal and rattan weaving in a restrained, functional form. The rectangular base with rounded corners is crafted from warm, honey-brown wood with a semi-matte finish. Five evenly spaced, cylindrical wooden pegs serve as hooks for coats and accessories. Above them, three parallel black metal rods, supported by gently curved wooden side brackets, form a shelf for hats or small items, while a rattan weave introduces a subtle decorative accent. Visible screw joints highlight the honesty of the construction. The wood surfaces show natural grain, the metal has a matte texture, and the proportions—80 x 26 x 12 cm—are compact and harmonious. The coat rack is preserved in very good condition, with minor scratches and traces of use typical for its age, and no major damage.
