This wall sconce, crafted in Poland in the 1960s, is a distinctive example of brutalist design realized in repoussé copper. The bold, trapezoidal shape features a central, smooth, mirror-polished copper plate in a warm tone, encircled by a wide, heavily hammered frame with dark, almost blackened accents that highlight its artisanal origins. Irregular, undulating edges and a flared decorative element at the bulb holder recall medieval candle sconces, reinterpreted here in the raw geometry of the brutalist idiom. The construction is robust, with visible handwork in the repoussé technique and sturdy soldered joints. The sconce is fitted for E27 screw-base bulbs. Dimensions: height 40 cm, width 29 cm, depth 12 cm. The electrical installation is fully operational. The condition is very good, with only subtle patina and minor surface irregularities typical for its age and handcrafted nature.
The form of this sconce echoes the spirit of its era, when materiality and structure became the central language
