ABOUT PRODUCTID 36914
This brutalist ceramic wall sconce was produced at the turn of the 1960s and 1970s by the 'Kamionka' Folk and Artistic Industry Cooperative in Łysa Góra, Poland. The structure centers on a substantial ceramic backplate finished in a deep black, metallic-gloss glaze with a distinctly rough, bark-like texture. Two copper brackets support conical, transparent glass shades, each heavily ribbed to create a geometric, architectural rhythm. The interplay of materials—raw ceramic, the warm patina of copper, and clear ribbed glass—establishes a composition anchored in contrast and authenticity. The piece is preserved in very good condition, showing no structural damage, and retains its original factory label, confirming provenance and collectible status. The sconce channels the spirit of late-1960s Polish brutalism: an honesty of materials and a willingness to experiment. Its hand-glazed, irregular ceramic surface tells the story of bold artistic choices, while the ribbed glass diffuses light in sculptural patterns across the wall—transforming illumination into a tactile experience. The dark ceramic base recalls a fragment of stone unearthed from the earth, speaking with the voice of an era that valued rawness and authenticity over ornament.Such a striking sconce
