ABOUT PRODUCTID 11737
A double Danish wall sconce from the 1970s exemplifies Scandinavian mid-century modern design. The vertical rectangular backplate, crafted from dark, matte-finished teak wood, serves as a foundation for two cylindrical glass shades, each mounted on gently curved, polished brass arms. The amber-hued glass shades are decorated with pronounced geometric reliefs and a high-gloss finish, producing expressive light diffusion. Visible screws connect the brass arms to the wood, highlighting precise craftsmanship and the focus on structural detail characteristic of the era. The sconce features a 3.5-meter white electric cord with in-line switch and an E14 light fitting. The piece has been preserved in very good vintage condition with only minor traces of wear and authentic patina on wood and brass. The sconce’s form and materials evoke the Scandinavian spirit of the 1970s, where design harmonized geometric clarity with the warmth of domestic lighting. The amber glass, reminiscent of a setting sun, filters light with a distinctive mid-century texture—soft and subtly echoing the relief patterns. The teak base quietly speaks to values of durability and function, while the rich patina reinforces a sense of history and authentic ageing. This wall sconce could be placed above a sideboard or within a living area, allowing its gentle light to reflect across matte surfaces and highlight the grain and sheen of wood and metal. It may be successfully paired with muted textile-upholstered furnishings, glass or ceramic decor elements, and mid-century artworks in minimalist frames. The sconce works especially well within interiors referencing
