ABOUT PRODUCTID 4494
This wall sconce, designed by Willy Daro for Massive in Belgium during the 1970s, epitomizes Hollywood Regency wall lighting. The lamp’s form resembles a stylized flower, with six broad, sculptural leaves in silvery white brass radiating outward from a central, highly polished gold-toned, mirror-like sphere. The leaf elements feature a matte, delicately textured surface that faithfully mimics natural veining and structure, while the center acts as a contrasting, glossy focal point. The sconce is fitted with an E27 bulb socket and a built-in pull-cord switch for ease of use. Measuring 37 cm in diameter and 12 cm in height, the fixture is preserved in very good vintage condition, showing no visible damage or significant signs of wear. This sconce echoes an era when lighting became sculpture. In the 1970s, Hollywood Regency blended organic motifs with metallic luster and bold ornamentation—here, the sweeping leaves evoke the allure of the exotic, while the gold sphere at the heart recalls the glamour of a bygone age. The lamp seems to bloom across the wall, reflecting both light and its surroundings like a piece of jewelry, subtly shifting in tone depending on the viewing angle and type of bulb used. The Willy Daro sconce may be placed above a sideboard, in a hallway, or as a decorative accent in the living room. It is well-suited to 1970s-inspired eclectic interiors, vintage-infused spaces, or among contemporary minimalist furniture, where it highlights the interplay of form and material.
