The AKA Leuchten wall sconce from the 1970s is a classic example of space age and mid-century modern design, produced in East Germany (DDR). The lamp is constructed with a simple, geometric layout: a matte, opal-white soda-lime glass globe (approx. 15 cm diameter) is mounted on a slender, chromed cylindrical tube and a rectangular, matte black wall base. The globe evenly diffuses light, giving the piece a clean, balanced character. The original pull-cord switch with a cream-colored tip adds a subtle functional detail. The lamp’s proportions are harmonious: the spherical shade visually dominates, supported by an understated base and polished chrome accent. Condition is good—there are no cracks or chips in the glass, and the metal shows a delicate, natural patina with minor marks typical of vintage chrome.
