This hand-knotted wall tapestry, designed by Hanna Czajkowska in the 1970s for Zakopianskie Warsztaty Wzorcowe, exemplifies the meeting of traditional craftsmanship and modernist interpretations of folk motifs. The vertically oriented composition (82 × 68 cm), made almost entirely of virgin wool with a touch of linen, references the architecture of the Podhale region through geometric, stylised rooflines and simplified building forms. The dominant creamy beige is joined by muted tones of grey, brown, ochre, brick red, and subtle accents of black and white, creating an earthy, subdued palette. The structure is distinctly artisanal: the hand-tied knots form a slightly irregular, matte, and tactile surface, with finished yet unreinforced edges. The reverse is branded by ZWW. The tapestry is in good condition, showing gentle signs of use and minor fading to the fibres, consistent with authentic vintage textiles from the 1970s.
